Abstract  Space production theory, as a part of Neo-Marxism's theory, deeply analyzes the root of a series of urban problems in the West. So it is basic cognition that capital is the endogenous power of urbanization. First, this paper intends to explore how capital produces space to pursue profit and go through the crisis in China, based on the theory of three circuit put forward by David Harvey, which intends to help explain the topic of space production on urban scale. Then taking Haizhu district as the empirical object, this paper has found the functional change of Haizhu district from an industry cluster to the dormitory town to the innovative city, through the qualitative and quantitative research methods, combined with GIS and other analysis methods. Taking liberation as the starting point, this paper analyzes the spatial change process of Haizhu district by dividing development stage according to the formation time of market economy and innovation-driven development strategy. We can see that, in the first circuit, capital combines with labor to form industrial space in the form of horizontal "V" type, where many state-owned enterprises are concentrated. In the second circuit, capital produces consumption space towards the southeast direction based on the land market mainly in the form of housing. In the third circuit, capital produces innovative space in eastern area and fixes western area as welfare treatment.
